Summer Reading 2024 Programming Information & Dates
Core Youth Programming:
*Storytime: Mondays at 10 am and Saturdays at 10:30 am in our Storytime Treehouse Pavilion (inside the youth services area if raining). Saturday Storytime is replaced by special programming listed below when applicable.
*Playgroup: Fridays from 10 am – 11:15 am in the Treehouse Pavilion
*LEGO Club: Thursdays from 3:15-4:30.
Special Summer Programming:
Saturday, June 22nd: Summer Reading Begins with Kickoff Party and Ice Cream in the Community Room from 10:30 am -12:00 pm
Saturday, July 13th: Storytime Adventure @10:30 am @ the Northfield Fire Station
Saturday, July 27th: Clowning with Kintz Performance & Interactive Play @ 10:30 am @ Memorial Park (this program is sponsored by a grant from the Vermont Department of Libraries)
Saturday, August 3rd: BPL LEGO Challenge! (registration required, targets ages 5+) @ 10:30 am in the Community Room
Saturday, August 10th: Whoo’s That? Wildlife Presentation from SVNMH @ 11 am in the Community Room (this program is generously sponsored by Northfield’s VOREC grant)
Thursday, August 15th: Nigerian Dwarf Goat Program from Five Rooster Farm @ 10 am in the Storytime Treehouse Pavilion
Saturday, August 17th: Storytime Adventure @ the Roxbury Fish Culture Station @ 10:30am
Monday, August 19th: Storytime Stuffie Birthday Party for Woofles with Cupcakes @ 10:30 am
Thursday, August 22nd: Lego Build Club Summer Celebration @ 3:15 pm. This will be our regular weekly LEGO build club with some extra fun treats to celebrate the end of the summer.
Saturday, August 24th: End of Summer Reading Celebration & Grand Prize Drawing @ 10:30 am in the Community Room. Come have fun, enjoy popsicles, and find out who wins the Summer Reading Program Grand Prizes this year.
Storywalks*:
A Storywalk is a self-guided walk through a picture book page by page. Both of these Storywalks are generously sponsored by Northfield’s VOREC grant)
At Dog River Park: June 22nd- July 14th
Shaw Outdoor Center Trails: August 2nd – August 18th
Weekly Themes:
This summer every week will have a different theme. Think of the theme as an adventure we are going on through books and activities. Each week our weekly craft, weekly challenge, and Saturday Storytime (or special program when applicable) will center around one of the following themes:
*June 17th-22nd Camping & Outdoor Adventure Week
*June 24th- 29th Outer Space Week
*July 1st-July 6th Volcano Week
*July 8th-July 13th Community Week
*July 15th – 20th Ocean Week
*July 22nd- 27th Circus Week
*July 29th-August 3rd: Construction Week
*August 5th- August 10th: Wildlife Week
*August 12th-August 17th: River Week
*August 19th – August 24th: Party Week
